SHAY SLAYING RED CARPET

Shay Mitchell attended the  2016 People's Choice Awards and blew all her PLL co-stars away on the red carpet by serving some serious sass in the form of a thigh splitting halter neck dress! The actress who won an award along with her cast-mates for the six year running show Pretty Little Liars got the make-up, accessories and outfit all nailed down. Shay defiantly was one of the best dressed of the night, who channeled the daring plunging cuts of dresses seen frequently on the likes of Gigi Hadid and the runways of Versace last year.

Lets hope Shay's character Emily brings a little bit of this daring style to the street of Rosewood in the upcoming series of PLL!

This style is defiantly a heart on my tumblr feed!!!!

Style Icons: Most Influential Models Naomi Campbell

Naomi Campbell:

Naomi Campbell undoubtedly has set a high bar for British models as one of the Big Six Supermodels of the 80s and 90s. The model turned mogul has achieved great successes through a fierce runway walk and timeless beauty. If you haven't seen Naomi walk then simply search her credentials on youtube. She even made falling fabulous whilst wearing insanely high inch heels on the runway that should only be allowed in ANTM challenges! Recently Naomi has guest starred on the hit show Empire playing the ruthless Camilla and also executively produced and judged the modelling show The Face, proving she is still relevant in the Kardashian saturated culture! No shade Kim ;). Although Campbell's career has been
surrounded with controversy, it appears to have done little to damage her image as any mention of phone throwing has kinda become her thing- remember that Ugly Betty episode? Another thing the woman is in her 40s and still looks as good as she did 20 years ago! Naomi, shows no signs of slowing down career wise, from her first cover at 15 of Elle the supermodel has paved a strong and lucrative path for young models following in her footsteps!!

INSPIRE ME: Street Style

The best place to draw inspiration for a new outfit is defiantly on the streets of our favourite fashion capitals London, Paris, New York and Tokyo- but to name a few. Fashion may first appear on the runways, but it becomes iconic on the streets. It's less about taking a whole outfit of the runway but rather to integrate you're style with that of the designer- much like Carrie Bradshaw.

The best streetstyle combines trends and labels, accessories and fabrics to create individual style that shocks, impresses and inspires our view of current fashion. We innovate and have the power to set trends on the street not just the runway!

Sportswear is the New Streetwear

Sportswear is the New Streetwear

Back in the 20s the term 'Sportswear' meant clothing that you could interchange for an informal look. It was the style you would adopt when spectating a sport, however, now rather than dressing as the audience we dress as the athletes. This Sportswear Movement has become the go-to trend for the jetsetters, gym bunnies and anyone who values a comfortable, relaxed style. Just searching through the vast blogs of Tumblr, sportswear is cropping up on all the streets of London and Paris. Although this form of fashion has been around for decades,  key innovators in 'Activewear'  such as Adidas, Puma and Nike have pushed lycra tights, sporty tops and running trainers out of the gym and onto the streets.

London's calling? Nope that would be Milan

London Fashion Week is over. Now it's time for the fashion moguels to swamp the street of Milan to experience what sexy Italian designs are in store. Buckle up for the likes of Versace to bring the heat to the runway!!!

The Mannequin Debate, Bigger the Better?

When was the last time you walked into a store and saw a plus size mannequin? Chances are that you've never seen one that was more than a size 8. Well, recently Debenhams launched plus size mannequins claiming they represent the size of the average shopper. Which was labelled a decision in the right direction in promoting body confidence. However, some extreme views claim this new launch of the size 16 mannequin is appropriating obesity. Whilst others would claim the size 8 mannequins promote the pressure of a skinny-as-beautiful ideal which is disseminated throughout modern society. Which ever your standing on the subject, it is certainly a bold move by the brand and should be applauded.

This public acceptance of mannequins is highly overlooked, yet everyday we enter shops and are bombarded by images that pressure women to look a certain way. Yes, labels are beginning to introduce plus size ranges and promote them alongside the so called 'average' sizes. However, when was the last time you picked up a catalogue with a 'plus size' model on the front. Hell, it seems derogatory for me to even label women plus size, when many are not. Yet, many modern fashion stores can overwhelm you with guilt when you spot a sparkly frock only to realise they only hold a size range of 6-12, 14 if you're lucky!

On the other hand, the argument of plus size mannequins encouraging obesity could be a logical argument, if you considered size 16 obese. Many women are pressured to lose weight nowadays, yet I can't help but think if this pressure was null and void, society would not have a wide spread issue of weight at both ends of the spectrum. However, the world of fashion is stigmatized with the image of pretty skinny girls walking down the runways, parading the latest designer labels and the lowest body fat percentage in the process. But would we have it any other way? Would you see fashion differently if it were size 16 rather than size 8?

What do you think? leave your views below!
